Ding! Round two . . .

Bob starts round two tomorrow. The start of six more weeks of what we just went through these past six weeks: two days of outpatient infusions followed by breath-holding and hand-wringing, as we wait to see if the awful side effects appear again. . . .this is followed by three weeks of waiting, waiting, waiting. Followed by two more back-to-back 5-day stints in the hospital. . . Maybe because we've gone through this once before, we have a better idea of what to expect, though I should know better than to assume anything is a given on this carnival ride. Even so, I don't have much to say about it this time, only that I hope it goes better than the first round. Well, not that I don't have much to say, I always do. Sometimes, it's just too much to process. Things just get stuck, just will not budge, and it's probably better I don't try . . .

Doc S. ordered a decrease in the cisplatin (one of the outpatient infusion drugs), with the hopes that it'll lessen the side effects, given the severe response Bob had the first time around. A little part of me inside cries, "Oh no! Please don't decrease anything! Rock this shit out of Bob any way you can . . . please . . ." But, I know, I've seen, first hand, the side effects. Not pretty. They can be as devastating as the cancer . . .

Speaking of side effects, here are a few photos for your viewing pleasure. This duo we call, "You think you have bad hair days . . ."

The hair shedding seems to have come to a halt at this point, but will likely resume with these next rounds, is my guess. Then again, maybe it won't. Bob's ordered several new ball caps with golf logos on, to add to his hair replacement wardrobe, which just arrived, just in case.

Wish I had more to contribute here, but have had a severe case of writer's block. Maybe I'll try to post a few more pics here, and let them speak for us . . .

Bob's Power PICC line. We have to wrap it with Glad Press 'n' Seal whenever he takes a shower. Press 'n' Seal rocks. For things other than wrapping PICC lines, too. Like leftovers.

He'll get this removed after his 2nd infusion on Wednesday.

This is the shrine my mom created for Bob in her new apartment in St. Peter, which is in
a renovated 1800's hotel, with high ceilings and a reputation that Jesse James and his posse stayed here the night before robbing the First National Bank in Northfield.

There's a picture of Bob at Christmas, and a multitude of angels surrounding him, some in the form of figurines, others in spirit. All in the form of guardian angels.

Well, we're up very early tomorrow, and I'm really grasping at things to write, so will close for now.

Peace, love and good hair days to all,
Jen

  2. Thanks for the update, Nenni. Really, you don't always have to have words for us--we have words for you two, though--we love you, we want Bob to get better soon, we want this shit to end for you two, too; we are here for you two, we think of you both each and every day.

We love you both to the moon and back, and are ending our prayers and strength each and every day. The picture of my Uncle Bob, next to Amelia's Uncle Bob made me cry--Bob Cullen is there by Bob, by you both. He and dad and the others spirits we've callen on to carry Bob through this and you through this are all there.

    Much love to you both!
